Personal Care

Hands-on support, delivered with dignity.

When your loved one needs help with the basics of daily living, we provide skilled, respectful personal care that preserves their independence and their sense of self.

What personal care covers

Personal care is hands-on help with the everyday activities that keep a person clean, comfortable, and safe: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and moving safely around the home. It is the support that lets someone stay in the house they love instead of moving before they are ready.

Every personal care plan at Private Duty Aides is shaped with a registered nurse's eye for dignity and safety. Our aides are trained to assist without taking over, protecting both your loved one's independence and their sense of self, because how care is delivered matters as much as what gets done.

Bathing & Grooming

Assistance with showering, bathing, hair care, and grooming — always at the client’s pace and comfort level.

Dressing & Mobility

Help selecting and putting on clothing, and safe support with walking, transfers, and repositioning.

Medication Reminders

Timely reminders to take prescribed medications, and assistance with organizing pill schedules.

Incontinence Care

Dignified, discreet assistance with toileting and incontinence — handled with professionalism and compassion.

Nurse-founded means clinically informed.

Personal care touches the most intimate parts of someone’s day. Our founder — a registered nurse — trained every member of our care team to deliver this level of support safely, skillfully, and with genuine respect for the person receiving it.

Signs it may be time for personal care

  • Bathing or showering has become unsafe or is being avoided
  • You have noticed unsteadiness, near-falls, or trouble rising from a chair
  • Clothes are worn several days running or grooming has slipped
  • Getting to and from the bathroom is a struggle, especially at night
  • A recent hospital stay or diagnosis has changed what they can manage
  • Family is providing more hands-on care than is sustainable

Common questions about personal care

Is personal care medical care?

No. Personal care is non-medical assistance with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and toileting. It does not include skilled tasks like wound care or injections; when those are needed we will help you find the right medical provider.

Can aides help with medications?

Our caregivers can provide medication reminders and help keep routines on track, but they do not administer or adjust medications. That line keeps your loved one safe and keeps us within our non-medical scope.

How do you protect privacy and dignity during bathing?

Our aides are trained in respectful, unhurried personal care and follow your loved one's preferences and routines. Matching matters here too: we consider comfort and gender preferences when we assign a caregiver.

How soon can personal care begin?

Typically within 24 to 48 hours of your consultation. If a hospital discharge is driving the timeline, tell us; we regularly stand up care quickly to get someone home safely.

Will it be the same caregiver each time?

Yes. We prioritize a consistent aide, with a trained backup, so your loved one is not explaining their routine to someone new each visit.
