Companion Care
Meaningful companionship, every single day.
Loneliness is one of the biggest health risks for older adults. Our companion caregivers provide genuine connection, engagement, and support — not just supervision.
What companion care really is
Companion care is non-medical support that keeps daily life social, structured, and safe: someone to share a meal, run errands, and simply be present so the hours do not stretch empty. It is the service most families start with, well before hands-on or medical care is needed.
What sets our companion care apart is how we match. Because Private Duty Aides was founded by a registered nurse, every companion is chosen for temperament and personality as much as reliability. The goal is not a warm body in the room, but a genuine relationship your loved one looks forward to.
Conversation & Engagement
Meaningful daily interaction, shared activities, reading, and mental stimulation tailored to your loved one.
Errands & Appointments
Rides to doctor visits, grocery runs, pharmacy pickups, and other errands handled with care.
Light Housekeeping
Tidying up, laundry, dishes, and light cleaning so the home stays comfortable and safe.
Meal Preparation
Simple, nutritious meals prepared to your loved one’s preferences and dietary needs.
Matched by personality, not just availability.
We hand-select every caregiver for the specific person they will be supporting. Skill matters, but so does temperament, communication style, and genuine warmth. You will never be handed whoever is free.
Signs it may be time for companion care
- Meals are being skipped or the fridge is often empty
- Your loved one seems withdrawn or low since a loss or a move
- Phone calls and visits have become their main source of connection
- Mail, bills, and errands are quietly piling up
- They are still independent, but being alone all day worries you
- You live far away and want reliable eyes and ears in the home

Is companion care the same as personal care?
No. Companion care is non-medical and social: conversation, errands, meals, light housekeeping, and supervision. Personal care adds hands-on help with bathing, dressing, and mobility. Many families begin with companion care and add personal care as needs change, and we can adjust the plan without switching agencies.
How quickly can a companion start?
Usually within 24 to 48 hours. After a short consultation we match a caregiver to your loved one's personality and schedule, and care can often begin the same week.
Does Medicare pay for companion care?
Medicare does not cover non-medical companion care. It is typically private-pay, though long-term care insurance and VA benefits like Aid & Attendance may help offset the cost. We are glad to walk you through the options.
Can we keep the same companion every visit?
Yes, and consistency is the point. We match one caregiver with a familiar backup rather than rotating strangers through your home, so trust and routine can actually build.
What if our needs change over time?
The plan flexes with you. Hours can increase, and we can layer in personal care or overnight support as things evolve, all with the same agency and care team.
