A typical respite day includes preparing and serving meals, reminding about medications and helping with them, helping with bathing or personal care if needed, light housekeeping or tidying, companionship and activities, and helping with mobility or transfers. What gets done depends on what your parent needs and what you've asked us to focus on that day. We keep notes so you know what happened while you were away.
We can usually start within a few days of a hospital discharge. We coordinate with the hospital's discharge planners when possible, and we listen carefully to what came home with your parent in terms of new medications, precautions, or equipment. If you need care to start immediately, call us right away and we'll figure out what's possible.
