Common questions

Questions families ask us first

What home care services does Private Duty Aides provide?

We provide non-medical home care across Connecticut: companion care, personal care, dementia and Alzheimer's support, respite, 24-hour and overnight care, post-surgical recovery, live-in, veteran, hospice support, and stroke recovery. If you are not sure which fits, we will help you find the right starting point.

Where in Connecticut do you serve?

We serve families statewide, from Fairfield and New Haven counties across the rest of Connecticut. Each service links to town-level pages so you can see coverage in your specific area.

How quickly can care begin?

Usually within 24 to 48 hours. After a short consultation we match a caregiver to your loved one's needs and personality, and care can often start the same week, faster when a hospital discharge is involved.

Is this medical care? Are you a licensed home health agency?

No. Private Duty Aides provides non-medical companion and homemaker services only: we do not provide skilled nursing, medication administration, or medical treatment. We coordinate alongside your loved one’s medical providers when needed.

How much does home care cost, and does insurance cover it?

Non-medical home care is generally private-pay, and standard Medicare does not cover it. Long-term care insurance and VA benefits like Aid & Attendance may help, and we are glad to walk you through the options during a free consultation.

How do you match caregivers to families?

Because we were founded by a registered nurse, we match on temperament and personality as much as skill and availability. You get a consistent caregiver, with a familiar backup, not a rotating cast of strangers.
