A caregiver stays overnight and through the day, managing all personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming), preparing meals and ensuring your parent eats, administering medications on schedule, handling toileting and continence care, monitoring for falls and safety issues, and providing companionship. They're awake and present, not sleeping through the night. They also do light housekeeping related to your parent's care, answer the phone, and keep detailed notes about how your parent is doing.
We can often start within 24 to 48 hours of your call. If discharge is planned, we work with the hospital's case management team to get the information we need before your parent comes home. If it's urgent or unexpected, we move fast. We'll do a briefing call with you and your parent's medical team, match a caregiver, and have them in place when you need them.
24-Hour Care is private pay, which means you arrange payment directly with us. Medicare and most insurance plans don't cover round-the-clock in-home care. What we do cover is different from what they define as skilled nursing or rehabilitation. We can discuss costs and payment options with you openly, and we can help you explore whether any of your parent's benefits might cover pieces of their care.
